Work to dismantle the mount Jacob

Une oeuvre à démanteler au mont Jacob

Saguenay dismantle a work of public art at the mont-Jacob, Jonquière.

Comes and goes, José Luis Torres, produced and installed in 2012, was regarded from the start as fleeting, said the director of communications for the City, Bob Allard. The work of environmental sculpture has been the subject of restoration work by September 2016. That same year, the artist has been made aware of the desire of the Town to dispose of it in a three-year horizon. An evaluation was performed, involving José Luis Torres, to see what would be the most effective way to conduct a reconstruction of the work with sustainable materials.

It has been established that the restoration of back and forth would cost between $ 15,000 and $ 22,000 and that the bulk of the costs would be devoted to the development of the soil, settlement of foundations and the purchase of products to be protective of the wood. At a meeting held on the 22nd November, the elected officials of the executive committee have agreed that no compromise was possible in this case and the precarious situation of the work made it so that if restoration there is, the work must absolutely take place in 2019. In this context, the members of the executive have, therefore, unanimously decided that it would be dismantled next fall.
