A sign that things are going well for him, William Blackburn had been a part of during the Holiday season to the final camp organized by Hockey Quebec, in collaboration with the Central support of the recruitment of the League the Quebec major junior hockey (QMJHL), led by the Chicoutimien Carl Bouchard. To demonstrate his meteoric rise, he had not even been invited to the camp during summer. The Quebec training will be led by Martin Lap.
“I do not expect it to be really. It is certain that it is a surprise, ” commented the guardian of a 15-year-old who has learned the good news after the training of his own, a Thursday in the late afternoon. A little earlier, the unveiling had been done in a video released on social networks. To William Blackburn, it will be the first contact with the national level.
“I don’t think I have too much pressure. I only want to have the most fun possible. This is a big event and I want to enjoy it, while giving the maximum, ” said Blackburn, a few minutes after having been made aware of his appointment.
The latter has not stolen his place and knows a season of thunder in his first midget AAA, with an average of goals allowed 2.63 and a percentage off of .908. He has also recorded two shutouts in November to be named player of the month. With these figures, it is inserted among the guards to be monitored for the next draft of the QMJHL in June.
“The statistics don’t really matter to me. I am focused to work hard, advocate for William Blackburn. The last chance, it is a goal, but I try not to think too much about it and just have fun on the ice rink. ”
William Blackburn will miss no games of the Elites to participate in the Canada Games. The tournament, which will begin on 16 February, will take place during a break of the hostilities in the midget AAA between the end of the regular season and the playoffs. Before flying to Alberta, members of the provincial training, led by Martin Laperrière of the Ramparts of Quebec, will take part in the last preseason.
Add-in with the Elites
